Puppy Preschool

We currently offer 4-week puppy preschool classes on Saturday afternoons at Rockdale Veterinary Hospital. These classes are for puppies aged 8-16 weeks, and cover essential skills including:

Nipping and biting

Learn how to develop bite inhibition (self control when mouthing) in your pup

Desensitisation and counter-conditioning

Build resilience to stressful situations and a sense of security in your pup

Building independence

Develop a range of exercises for encouraging a calm and quiet puppy when left alone

Toilet training

Discover the timing, triggers, and techniques for toileting so that your pup gets it right every time

Socialisation and environmental conditioning

Find out how to build confidence in your pup when interacting with living things and the world around them, at the most crucial time in their development

Puppy body language

Understand signs of relaxation, curiosity, fear, and stress in your pup, and learn how to manage abnormal behaviours

Rockdale Veterinary Hospital is one of Sydney's first Fear Free veterinary clinics, which offers a safe and encouraging environment to train and socialise your pup using a positive reinforcement-based method. This method of training is fun, interactive, and helps to inspire confidence in your puppy.

You'll need to bring along:

Your puppy wearing a collar or harness and flat leads (no retractable leads)

A mat or towel for your puppy to sit on

Small, high-value (tasty!) treats such as shredded chicken or cheese as a reward
